DRS Technologies, headquartered in Arlington VA, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica SpA, an $18 billion provider of aircraft, radars, weapons, and defense and border security systems worldwide.
Recognized as one of the fastest growing defense technology companies in the world, DRS holds leading market positions in shipboard air and surface radars, combat display workstations, electronic sensor systems, power systems, rugged computer systems, software, training systems, environmental control systems, telecommunication systems, and integrated logistics and support services. DRS employs approximately 10,500 people worldwide and has annual revenues of over $3.30 billion dollars.
DRS Maritime Systems & Services (MSS), located in Johnstown, PA, Largo FL, Germantown, MD and Chesapeake, VA, has 489 employees that have provided engineering, technical, manufacturing, depot, field service, logistic, administrative and program management support to domestic and foreign military agencies for over 30 years. This Chesapeake facility has 40 employees, with the expansion of 7,000 sq ft for depot operations we anticipate growth of 25% in the next year.
The Johnstown, PA and Largo, FL locations are state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, this Chesapeake location is our logistics and field support center, and our engineering and design house is in Germantown, MD. Our primary business areas are U.S. Navy combat systems, tactical computers, peripherals, display consoles, sonar and radar.
DRS is driven by our Quality Policy that is committed to providing leading edge products and services to government and commercial customers worldwide, while increasing customer satisfaction through continual improvement of its products, services and the Quality Management Systems.
DRS MSS and its predecessors have provided engineering, technical, field service, logistic, program management and administrative support to domestic and foreign military agencies for almost 40 years. Our primary business areas are U.S. Navy combat systems, tactical computers, peripherals, display consoles, sonars and radars. For over fifteen years, DRS has provided production, engineering, field service, technical, logistic, administrative and program management services to Combat Direction Systems Activity (CDSA) Dam Neck for the Ships Self Defense System (SSDS) MK 2, AN-SPA25 Radar repeater, and other combat system components.
DRS MSS envisions the Chesapeake facility to further mature and expand to the Sustainment Center of Excellence supporting DRS systems. Leveraging this talent and knowldege pool gains efficiencies for DRS as well as our government and industry partners. While partially driven by the need to move activites not associated with heavy manufacturing out of our plants to make room for increased production, Chespeake brings over 25 years of experience base to this key fleet enabler and the geographic proximity to the fleet to meet Navy customer needs. Chesapeake retains the capability for engineering prototypes and low rate production.
